We have recently commissioned a Jones and Shipman 1300 (English made) Universal Cylindrical Grinder in our Cairns workshop. The machine has been refurbished and modernised including retrofitting a new VFD drive and AC motor on the job rotation axis to replace the original DC motor, which has given us very precise and infinitely variable rotation speed control on this axis.
Trial grindings show we can grind to diameters within 0.0001” or 0.0025mm of the specified diameter, verified with our NATA certified measuring equipment. The machine capacity is 27” (685mm) in length and 10” (254mm) in diameter with internal grinding capability.
As there are very few cylindrical grinders in Far North Queensland, this addition to our Cairns workshop enables us to provide a better service for our customers locally with unmatched delivery times.
